Charlie's first day of school was this week! No tears for Charlie or for Mommy...Charlie was thrilled. He ran to his class, practically bowling over precious children slowly tottering to their classrooms. In fact, I lost sight of him in the hallway, and by the time I got to the door, he was already in his classroom playing. While other children clung to their mothers and wept at the doorway, I had to go into the classroom to give my little one a hug. He did not hug me back...he said, "Mommy, stop. I'm playing dinosaurs!" I had prepared myself for this to be an emotional parting, a big moment for both him and for me. It wasn't. He happily played, and I happily left and ran errands with Annie. It was great!

When we picked him up, the teacher said, "Did you know your son was a comedian?" I did, in fact, but I had no idea he would be a comedian in front of 12 little strangers on the first day. Wow...we may be in for it! "Did he cry at all?" I asked. "Only once," said his teacher. I was thinking "Oh, he did miss me a little! That's sweet!." She continued, "when we made him stop playing to change his diaper." Hmmm...well, I guess I'm glad he's independent.
Does this look like a child who had a bad first day of school???
