She is one week old--we can't believe it. Here she is compared to Charlie's one week pic...Charlie was definitely a bit chubbier at this point.

Coming Home

We took Annie home from the hospital dressed in her best--- a smocked dress we bought for her on the day we found out she was a girl!

She, of course, had to have stylish outerwear as well. These are all of the pictures we got, as Charlie promptly fell down and hit his head out of excitement the moment we got home and attracted all of our attention. Oh well! Less pictures--part of being the second child, I guess!

When Charlie Met Annie

Charlie was finally able to come up to the hospital today (after being quarantined for illness for the last couple days, poor thing!). Don't let this picture fool you....this was the ONLY picture of the four of us...Charlie was not interested in Annie...we only got him to get up on the bed because he could push the buttons and make it go up and down. :) He was very sweet to her when he first met her, tickling her toes. He later gave her a car sticker, but other than that, I'm not sure he realized she was actually in the room....but, car stickers and toe tickling were more than I had hoped for, so we were thrilled!


He really liked pulling her bassinet around the hallway....he seemed very proud to be a big brother. Charlie loves to be a big helper...hopefully this will come in handy the next few weeks.
Annie is a little better at holding still for pics, so we got quite a few of the three of us. She looks like her daddy, doesn't she??

Baby Annie's Birthday

Anna Grace Averitt was born at 11:48 this morning, a beautiful healthy little girl!!!! She weighs 6 lb, 10 ou. We are overwhelmed with gratitude. She looks just like Charlie to us, but with darker hair--about Graham's color. Alyson feels great, and baby Annie is in a delightful sleepy state...we are loving bonding with her and getting to know her sweet face. Thank you all for your prayers. God is truly so gracious!!!! More pics to come!!

Teamwork

It's been really fun watching Charlie start to actually care about and interact with his friends, rather than just playing next to them. Here he and Robert show a little teamwork...very cute!

Buddies

We love playing with our friends!!! We had a fun day at the Arboretum a few weeks ago with James and Robert!



And now that Ellie is standing, Charlie is starting to play with her like a buddy...though she's starting to hold her own as far as sharing (or not sharing) is concerned. Chivalry is something we've still got to work on! Notice, Charlie is hoarding the trucks.

Bevo

Charlie met Bevo last night....pretty exciting. He now seems to think all cows are named Bevo. His Uncle Robert will be pleased.

Charlie's Skills

Since July our little family has been doing well and Charlie has been learning how to do all kind of things. We were able to capture a few of them and wanted to share them with you.

Colorado

The Averitt family of 13 does Colorado all in one cabin! Let me tell you, folks, it was an exciting week. Charlie was in heaven...playmates every hour of the day!

He got to do everything with his older cousins! They even took baths together!



He got to go on a hayride and roast marshmallows (he refused to get off the hayride for the first few minutes after we reached our destination...thus the picture with Charlie by himself in the hay).






Positive peer pressure--Charlie ate all kinds of things he normally scoffs at, just because his cousins were eating it!
The highlight for Charlie: riding the horsie! His stuffed horsie at home just has not had the same appeal since he tried out the real thing!

Charlie loved hiking...he ran most of the way, only stopping to throw rocks in streams!

Rocking on the back porch in the rockers Grandad got--he bought a darling toddler sized one, but they much preferred the big people rockers!

Oh boy!

It's a girl!!!! We are so shocked, but so excited! Just when I had learned to love and adore the world of boys, we are plunged into the world of pink. Graham and I had lunch today after the appointment, and afterwards we went to pick out a little dress for her. It was so precious to see Graham picking up little pink dresses and bonnets...he's going to be a wonderful little girl daddy!

We pray that she and Charlie will have a special relationship, and that the Lord will make them like minded and a joy to one another.

She doesn't have a name yet--we are having a lot of fun picking one out for her! It's amazing to me to think that the Lord knew her and knew her name before time began. We just can't wait to see her precious face and hold her in our arms! We praise our gracious God for a very healthy sonogram!

Catching Up!

Well....here's the first installment of what we've been up to these last few weeks. We will be finding out the sex #2 in the next couple weeks...stay tuned!

We went to Houston to visit Philip and Allison's precious baby girl!!!!

Charlie has become interested in his 8 month old friend Ellie now that she can sit up and interact with him....he loves saying her name..."Eyeee!"

Charlie's newest cousin

Charlie's newest cousin was born this weekend, baby Josephine Bailey Averitt. She's a cute little thing, with lots of thick pretty hair!!! She looks just like her big sister, which is a very good thing. Here she is with her daddy!

Though Josephine is pretty darn cute, Charlie is much more interested in his cousin Cici (whose name he learned to say today!)



We are so thankful for you, baby Josie! We love you already and we praise God for you!

Charlie is going to be a big brother!

That's right, Charlie's world will never be the same, come mid-November. We couldn't be more excited! The sonogram showed a healthy little baby with a strong heartbeat. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

So, we envisioned this really cute picture with Charlie smiling while holding the sonogram. But Charlie was not interested at all. He did not want to have anything to do with holding the sonogram.

So....we tried a few alternatives. I tried holding it up to him while he smiled...but he mostly rolled around on the ground.

Then, when we tried again, out of frustration, he started biting the sonogram. (I'm sure he will love his little brother or sister once they are born.....here's hoping!)

Exhibit A: The bitten sonogram. (For those of you interested in looking at the sonogram, the baby is in the black circle, the head is on top and it's a profile view).

Then, we finally bribed him to pick up the sonogram on the floor, and bring it across the room to us. Could have fooled you, though, huh? You'd think he was really excited to be a big brother!

The day we found out, we all went to Kuby's for breakfast to celebrate (a tradition we started when we found out about Charlie!)
